Venus Baths via Halls Gap Botanic Garden

Dry is the first thought that comes to mind when I reminisce on our time spent here, still absolutely sensational is a close second thought.

This walk starts right in the heart of Halls Gap at the Halls Gap Botanic Garden. It feels almost like entering a secret garden that obviously isn't really very secret, but as you walk through the above huge iron gates you almost feel childlike. Opening the huge gates are comparable to opening a present Christmas morning, what wonders are you going to find in there. There are quite a few fabulous sculptures scattered throughout the gardens and finding them is sure to light up the eyes of every child. Even more exciting for children are the little treasure troves of information pictured below, watch your little one's eyes light up lifting these up and soaking up all the information they willingly provide. Please allow extra time for them the little (and big) people you're with to take the extra time to investigate all of these, yes there are quite a few around the garden.

I must admit I enjoy the walk to get to the Venus Baths equally as much as I enjoy the Venus Baths themselves. It would have to be up there with one of the most picturesque walks we have done thus far. It is not a long walk and it is primarily flat and is more of an easy stroll that a formidable exercise. Once you are a little over half way to the Venus Baths you will see a sign to your right directing you on a much more gruelling challenge to a choice of three destinations Splitters Falls, Boroka Lookout or Wonderland Carpark which once there you can continue onto the Pinnacle via the Grand Canyon.

This particular visit we continued on to Venus Falls and then back to the car. However, on our last visit we went onto Venus Baths and then headed up to Splitters Falls. The walk up there is not as easy as to the Venus Baths from memory parts were actually quite steep but unreservedly worth it, they were magnificent.

What I most enjoy about all the waterfalls we have been to in The Grampians is that you can interact with them and explore them as much or as little as you like. Quite a few other waterfalls we have visited have been constrained for public safety I can only assume; I enjoy the freedom of the waterfalls in The Grampians.

On the walk back down, we couldn't help but notice the above rock formation jokingly referred to by us as 'Chicken pecking after laying an egg rocks'. As you can see in the second photo taken back in September there was a great deal more water about the variety of locales that we visited compared with our April visit.

Sorry to have deterred from reaching the Venus Baths, I just wanted to share Splitters Falls with you all, now time to get back on track.

You can see why I just love the journey to the Venus Baths I was truly captivated by my surrounds as were the others.

Dry, dry, dry that should actually be a creek running alongside the path, but as opposed to flowing we could have walked up the creek and remained dry. This was the point that I said to the boys do not be disappointed if there were no baths at the end. We really didn't mind if there was or was not as we were all just enjoying the walk so much.

We were surprised to see there where several large pools perfect for dipping our legs into, it was such a beautiful place to sit, relax and take it all in which we did for quite some time.
