Out of Iso Destination Number 9 - Cardinia Reservoir

This is a man-made water supply dammed reservoir, that was completed in 1973. The 287,000 megalitre reservoir is located in Emerald a south east suburb of Melbourne. My favourite part of every visit here is walking along the dam wall, which is 1.6km each way. You can see the beautiful Dandenong’s in the distance from the wall, and the television towers on the top of Mt Dandenong are clearly visible. Kangaroos can often be seen hoping about the bottom of the wall and the large grass area. There is a playground for the children and, BBQ’s for a picnic. There are several other walks here, however it’s the dam wall walk I can’t wait to get back to.
