Out of Iso Destination Number 7 - Marysville

I have always loved this small tranquil little town, and was devastated when it succumb to the horrific Black Saturday fires in 2009. Slowly the town rebuilt, and the horizon of bare trees that looked like white sticks in the sky slowly returned to its former lush green view. Bruno salvaged what he could of his beautiful sculpture garden, and made new works of art.

The tourists have returned and the bed and breakfasts are back to being fully occupied. Marysville is a picturesque 90minute drive from Melbourne and when I say picturesque I do mean it. Getting there takes you through the winding road of the Black Spur, certainly a sight to behold. Once in Marysville you are spoilt for choice attraction wise. My favourites are Bruno’s Sculpture Garden, Keppel Falls, Keppel Lookout, Lake Mountain, Buxton Trout Farm and the park in the centre of town the flying fox is a lot of fun. Steavenson Falls tips my list of attractions. There is a huge carpark with toilets, however make sure you have some change as it’s now ticketed and is from memory $6.00 per car. From there it’s an easy 700mt walk to the 84mt plummeting waterfall, one of the tallest in Victoria. The hydroelectric turbine generator is also worth walking down the steps mid way through the walk to see. We usually end our visit to Marysville with a trip to the Marysville Lolly Shop and Produce Store, their truely is something for everyone in here.
