Noojee Trestle Bridge

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

Located on Baw Baw Tourist Road, Noojee this hidden gem is prettier than a picture, and somewhere the whole family will love to visit. My highlight is the magnificent bridge itself, the original bridge was constructed in 1919 but unfortunately only 20 years on it burnt down. Thankfully it was also rebuilt that very same year and the bridge we see today has stood the test of time since 1939. It is so much fun to walk the 102 metres across the top of the 21 metre high bridge, it is the tallest wooden trestle bridge in Victoria.

What a view, the bridge from the ground is nothing less than charming, but the view from the top is sensational. The tall eucalyptus trees still tower over you as you walk along the bridge and the alluring bright green ferns look so intricate below.

The Noojee Trestle Bridge is also the beginning of The Rail Trail, which is a 6 kilometre return walk that takes you along a wide gravel path through the shady forest to the old station site in Noojee village, opposite the start of School Rd.

Whilst I loved walking through the leafy green forest, you may have guessed that the bridge was really the highlight of my walk.
